*Why is the DAP led Penang government oppressing the Penang Chinese Clan Council (PCCC)?*
1. I refer to a recent statement issued by the Penang Chinese Clan Council (PCCC) that with ‘heavy heart’ the council has decided to cancel the Chinese New Year Culture and Heritage Celebration that is planned to be held in Penang next year.
2. What is more shocking is the admission by PCCC chairman Anthony Chang that said the decision to put on hold the annual event was due to the lack of cooperation and support from the Penang government. The admission by Anthony Chang clearly shows that the Penang government has abandoned PCCC and its members after the clan association attempted to get back RM74,000 that the state owed them and claim the premises of 50, Love Lane.
3. It is highly irresponsible of the DAP led Penang government to not support PCCC just because the PCCC had resulted to claim what is rightfully owed to them. This precedent of oppressing PCCC and the Chinese community at large is irresponsible and just goes to show how unprofessional is the DAP led Penang state government.
4. The Chinese New Year Culture and Heritage Celebration by PCCC shall not be mixed with politics as what the DAP led state government is doing now. Never in the history of Penang that PCCC had to cancel their celebrations since 1999 but this time the DAP led Penang state government has gone overboard in their attempts to oppress PCCC.
5. It is good to know that although the Federal Government was duly rejected by Penangites in the previous General Election (GE), the Federal Government supported PCCC including offering to cover the expenses of the event. There was no vengeance or bad blood between the Federal Government and the Chinese clans in Penang. So why is DAP so angry with the Chinese clans?
6. I call upon all Penang Chinese to stand up and speak up against the oppressive regime of Lim Guan Eng and DAP leaders in the state government. Is time for Lim Guan Eng to go back to Malacca and stop oppressing the Chinese clans in Penang. The Chinese clans were the main supporters of DAP in the last GE but it seems that this support is not appreciated and now DAP is going heads on with the Chinese clans. Time has come to put a full stop to all this nonsense by the DAP led Penang state government.
