Now @dapmalaysia Wants PAS to get out of Pakatan Rakyat

If PAS is determined to go ahead with its plans to implement hudud in Kelantan, then the Islamist party should get out of the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) coalition, said DAP's Anthony Loke.

The DAP organising secretary said the PR consensus was clear and it did not include hudud.

"As a political party which is principled and responsible, PAS should respect and abide by the consensus it agreed to when the party joined PR.

"If PAS is determined to go ahead with its plans, it should do the respectable thing and get out of PR," Loke (pic, top right) said.

In a statement, Loke said PAS had clearly anx blatantly disrespected the consensus agreed on by its coalition partners, PKR and DAP, when it submitted a private members bill in Parliament with the clear intention of introducing hudud law in Kelantan, where the Islamist party is the ruling government.

"It is very clear that the implementation of hudud law in any state is not the agenda agreed with PKR and DAP," he said.

"PAS cannot have the best of both worlds, the party cannot ride on the PR wave and, at the same time, attempt to violate the PR consensus."

Loke said PR could not appear to be weak and indecisive in the eyes of the public by wavering from its principles and performing flip-flop decisions.

He also reminded PAS of what was said at Karpal Singh's funeral, “there are no permanent friends or enemies in the political world, but we must have permanent principles". – April 25, 2014.
