Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan urged Umno wings nationwide to be more proactive in playing intellectual roles in order to reach out to the public especially youth.
Abdul Rahman, who is also the Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Development minister, said more intellectual programmes should be organised to prepare the party members in facing doubts and questions on various issues raised by all quarters.
Pointing out the changes in the political landscape, he stressed that it was high time for the party wing members to have the capability to provide wise answers to matters related to the party as well as government policy and constitution.
“The political landscape is changing and the younger generation in particular are more keens in discussing political philosophy and current issues via various medium including social media.
“As such, it is imperative to be equipped with sufficient knowledge to counter and explain any doubts or misconception on the party and government-related matters.
“Having said so, Umno wings should be more proactive and conduct various intellectual programmes such as debate, forum, seminar and courses to sharpen their knowledge and skills,” he said in the opening speech before officiating the Sik Umno Wanita, Youth and Puteri annual delegate meeting last Saturday.
