As an ordinary Malaysian Muslim, I want to place on record that I am deeply INSULTED.
I just read the article (Read HERE) by one Patricia Anne Martinez that for me has INSULTED the Muslims and the leaders of this country. Excerpts from here article are as below:
He has lived up to this prediction. Pope Francis, with courage, has commissioned the equivalent of the IPCMC: experts from all over the world who are not clerics, to advise him about reforming the Vatican administration (the Curia) and the Vatican bank. So I reiterate: there is much in the biography of such a leader from which we in Malaysia could learn!
This lady is now equating what Pope Francis did in Vatican to what she want's to be done in Malaysia, which is to set up the IPCMC and this is plain stupid. The IPCMC was rejected by the past and present Inspector General of Police (IGP) because police personnel accused of misconduct would have had no right to legal representation nor right of appeal to courts (Read HERE). So my question is where is the justice for the police officers? Not only that, even the Malaysian Bar council has rejected the IPCMC as it website says " IPCMC will treat police worse than criminals"
In addition, Patricia also mentioned that :
Do I blame Astro for insulting me? Not really. They were most INSENSITIVE to me as a non-Muslim. But a deeper analysis would lay the blame squarely on those with power and authority over our lives in Malaysia, especially over religiosity.
Now this is something interesting, does your religion allow for you to blame someone without any proof? The people who are in power and authority has clarified that there were never any instruction to ASTRO to put up the disclaimers. It was ASTRO who did it out of respect to the Muslims during Ramadan & Aidilfitri.
This proof that you have wrongly accused the leaders and authority of doing something that they did not do and therefore i strongly urge you to apologize to everybody that is involved. I am sure your religion also teaches you to apologize if you have made a mistake.
Finally, as an ordinary Muslim, I am not just insulted about the insensitivity with which you wrote your article. It made me think about everything else I experience as a Muslim Malaysian. It even made me think about the insults and hurts that some of my Muslim brothers and sisters ALSO experience from fellow Non Muslims.
