It took me a while to go through into detail of Pakatan's Rakyat manifeso but after reading it through what i can conclude is that it is no different to the Buku Jingga that was developed post 2008 General Election. However, what interest me most on the Manifesto is the discontinuity of two (2) critical policies by Parti Islam Se - Malaysia (PAS) namely Negara Berkebajikan and Hukum Hudud.
Well i am no pious dude, but i am just surprised how can this two critical agenda's be dropped by PAS since they have fought for this way back prior to joining Pakatan Rakyat. If we remember clearly, after PAS's muktamar last year, the Negara Islam was changed to Negara Berkebajikan and now they omit it all together. What has PAS's supporters have to say about this?
Let's talk something besides religion. One (1) of the more 'interesting' proposal in Pakatan Rakyat"s manifesto is the implementation of minimum wage to the amount of RM 1,100 per person. My main question is how can this be possible when Pakatan Rakyat did not support the Barisan Nasional (BN) government in tabling a minimum wage of RM 900 in parliament. Ok let's be positive, maybe Pakatan Rakyat did not agree because RM 900 is too little, and RM 1,100 is more appropriate. However, have they discussed with the stakeholders? i.e. small & medium enterprises, big business etc? Take note that for an implementation of this magnitude to have the necessary affect, all stakeholders has to be consulted just as what the Barisan Nasional government did prior to the implementation of the minimum wage policy.
Next, it's about dismantling the New Economic Policy (NEP). Although it is not clearly said in the manifesto but dismantling the NEP is part of Pakatan Rakyat's agenda if they win GE - 13 (Quote Rafizi Ramli in The Malaysian Insider). Look, i don't want to get into race or religion, but have not the Chinese and Indian's also benefited from the NEP? If your answer is NO, either you are from Pluto or just being plain ignorant.
Forbes today reported that out of the 10 most riches man in Malaysia, 7 are Chinese, that is 70% compared to a population of about 15 - 20% in the country. How can you say that you are oppressed in this country whereas you are actually enjoying the fruits from the stability, leadership and policies of the Barisan Nasional government?
Lastly, i just want the people to remember what Khalid Ibrahim had said on the 30th August 2012 after the Selangor Exco Meeting :
