Penang average monthly salary is below national average since 2015

The yearly Department of Statistics monthly wages and salaries report was released on 8th May 2017.

The people of Penang are earning below the national average salary under Lim Guan Eng
The Report shows that Penang is currently lying at 7th highest rank - dropping from 5th in 2010. Penang was overtaken by Johor in 2012 and overtaken by Negeri Sembilan in 2013 - and is falling further behind in average salaries compared to Kuala Lumpur.




In fact, Penang's average monthly salary of RM2,434 per month in 2016 is below the National Malaysia average of RM2,463 - the second year in a row since 2015.

Penang is now officially a below average state.
