@WeeKaSiongmp wants MCA to focus on National Unity |
We at the #KLChronicle is very pleased with the statement given by MCA deputy president Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong, who emphasized again that the focus of MCA would be to enhance national unity as the party restrategises efforts to regain public support. This is a most welcome development in the national political landscape as most parties now are more focused in race related issues rather than focusing on National Unity.
The focus by MCA and Datuk Dr. Wee Ka Siong is a positive step toward reconciliation |
It has been observed that since 2008, when the right wing Democratic Action Party (DAP) wrestled Penang and won a sizable seat in Parliament, the nation race relations had dropped to a new low with various unpleasant incidents involving political parties putting the Rakyat at risk of confrontation. Nevertheless, due to the strong leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Haji Tun Razak, this issues seems to now subside with Barisan Nasional taking the lead in ensuring race relations continue to improve.
Although there has been a lot of provoking by DAP for MCA to react on any issues related to racism, we at #KLChronicle has noted that MCA's leadership has maintained a very respected position where the leadership "calls a spade, a spade". If the comments by any Ministers or BN leaders constitute to an attack against the Malaysian Chinese community, MCA will respond in kind. Which is fair.
However, not only that, we have observed that MCA is not interested in cheap political stunts and publicity with respect to playing the "race" card when any issues arises. This method is commendable as the rakyat now is more interested in good governance, transparency, honesty rather than racial issues. By ensuring MCA is more interested in National Unity, MCA can position itself as a respectable political party in Barisan Nasional.
We hope MCA continue in this path and fight for National Unity as this is the only way for the country to move forward rather than continue to bicker on race related issues which have no benefit to the progress of the country.
