LRT Pier Structurally Safe, Federal Highway Opens to Traffic @NajibRazak @MyRapidKL

The pier is safe. People should stop spreading lies and create panic

KUALA LUMPUR, 23 November 2014 – The pier of the LRT Line Extension Project at the Federal Highway is physically safe and stable and the Federal Highway is open to traffic, contrary to the photos and messages that have been circulating in the social media.




The spokesman of the LRT Line Extension Project said the contractor of project were conducting preparatory works for the lifting of segmental box girders which was scheduled to be conducted in the late evening of 22 November (Saturday) when they noticed anomaly on the gantry crane on the pier in the afternoon.

Decision was made to bring the gantry crane down soonest in the interest of public safety, and traffic was temporarily diverted for the gantry crane to be brought down safely.

Traffic along the Federal Highway resumed to normal at about 8pm on Saturday evening. We sincerely apologize to motorists who have been inconvenienced.

Works on the LRT Light Extension Project at the Federal Highway would resume in the near future.
