The Johor Police have recorded statements from 40 suspected individuals for their involvement in the unprecedented protest which took place at the Sultan Iskandar Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) building on Friday.
Johor police chief Senior Deputy Comm Datuk Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff said a special task force was set up headed by OCCI Senior Asst Comm Datuk Hasnan Hassan to look into the case.
He said the police would work closely with the Road Transport Department (JPJ) and the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) in investigating the case from all angles that had led to the incident at the CIQ on that day.
"These individuals come from all walks of life and we are not biased in our investigation,” SDCP Mohd Mokhtar in a press conference at the Johor police contingent headquarters here on Wednesday.
He said police would forward the investigation papers to the deputy public prosecutor for further action once the probe was completed.
SDCP Mohd Mokhtar clarified that police did not issue 100 summonses to the group of factory bus drivers at the CIQ for protesting on the toll hike but the summonses were issued to them for illegal parking and obstructing traffic flows at the building.
