It is now compulsory to display hotline numbers |
The Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) has made it compulsory for tour and express bus operators to display complaint hotline numbers inside and outside the vehicles effective July 15.
According to a statement from SPAD, bus operators have been reminded to ensure the hotlines were contactable and to print the numbers on tickets issued to passengers.
SPAD said this was a continuation of earlier directives to install GPS in each bus, adhered to the SPAD ICOP-Safety Practice Code and have an operations control room to record and monitor bus speed, in efforts to tackle safety issues.
Meanwhile, SPAD urged bus operators to be more proactive in improving their management and driver's behaviour as each feedback would be directly received from passengers and the public.
The need to display the hotline numbers has become a bus operator's licence requirement.
SPAD also suggested that passengers of express and tour buses to directly contact its operator should any safety issue be violated during the journey.
The statement added that SPAD will conduct an operation to weed out ticket touts at all terminals to protect the rights of passengers, as well as work with other enforcement agencies to ensure the safety of passengers.
Besides that, passengers can also channel their complaints to SPAD through their toll-free line: 1 800 88 7723 and each complaint will be investigated before action is taken.
