Now 4 DAP leaders say phones "hacked, racist texts sent from numbers

Four Penang DAP lawmakers  made ridiculous claims today that their mobile phones had been so called "hacked" and used to send racist messages to several people, in what they said was "dirty politics”.

The leaders – deputy chief minister Professor Dr P. Ramasamy, Penang exco members Chong Eng, Phee Boon Poh and Seri Delima assemblyman R.S.N. Rayer – have lodged police reports over the matter.

They were alerted after they began receiving calls and text messages from recipients of the racist messages, who chided them for being racist.

"Some replied with really rude messages after they received a message purportedly from my number," said Rayer at a press conference today.

"But I explained that I did not send those messages and told them I had lodged a report."

One message purportedly sent from Chong Eng's phone said: "Orang Cina majoriti di Pulau Pinang. Kita boleh maju seperti Singapura tanpa orang Melayu atau India" (‎the Chinese are the majority in Penang. We can be developed like Singapore without the Malays and the Indians).

Chong Eng, who is also DAP Wanita chief, said it was not a coincidence that this happened at the same time as the Bukit Gelugor by-election.

"It is a systematic attack against DAP leaders.”

The incident began yesterday morning and the lawmakers are still receiving calls from unidentified people incensed over the content of the messages.

Rayer said the hacker had sent a message from his number, claiming that DAP would be tearing down all Malay stalls in Sungai Gelugor and Kampung Melayu‎.
