In Major U - TURN , Karpal Now Says Opposition Member of Parliament Will NOT Boycott Parliament Sitting

Members of Parliament from the Pakatan Rakyat coalition will not boycott the 13th Parliament sitting, DAP Chairman Karpal Singh said today.

Karpal said the Opposition MPs from the DAP, PKR and PAS were expected to take their oath in Parliament in June 24.

"To my knowledge, all of us, including PKR adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, will attend the parliament sitting," the MP for Bukit Gelugor told reporters during his weekly visit to the Air Itam market, here today.

Karpal was responding to a report which said that PKR MPs might consider boycotting the swearing-in ceremony of the new session of Parliament.

He also said that Anwar as the Opposition leader, would issue a statement on the matter soon.

Meanwhile, Karpal said the "Black 505 rally" would still go on at Padang Merbok on June 22 despite "police interference". He said PKR should be allowed to have its rally peacefully. "Confrontation between police and PKR will become of national interest," he added.
