Fears of increase crime rate, residents object to mega foreign workers camp in Juru by DAP government

Business owners and residents in Juru, Penang is living in fear due to the DAP state government’s decision to build a mega foreign workers dormitory in their backyard.

Referring to the recent statement by housing exco Jagdeep Singh Deo, the Penang government is going ahead with its plan to build these dormitories even with protest for local residents. (http://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/category/nation/2017/01/07/penang-goes-ahead-with-foreign-worker-dorms/)

The fears of business owners and residents are not unfounded. Recently in Selangor, a vicious gang fight between Myanmar’s immigrant community resulted in five men dead and two seriously injured (Reference : http://www.nst.com.my/news/2017/01/202290/five-myanmar-workers-killed-two-injured-gang-fight-seri-kembangan)  . This kind of incident is what the people of Juru fears, where immigrant gangs roam their streets and start fights which will then harm the wellbeing and safety of the public.

Unfortunately, the Penang state government has proven to be too egoistic and selfish to listen to the plight of the Juru people. This is a far cry from the promises made during the general election where the DAP government promised the people that any decision made by the state will only be for the best interest of the people and nothing more. After being elected into government, promises are now being broken without any disregard to the wellbeing of the people.

The question is, will the people of Penang continue to vote for the DAP government even though they have been betrayed and lied to? Only time will tell.

Thank You,
M Manogaran,
Juru,Penang
