Is Syed Sadiq Is Really That Stupid?

Di dalam surat terbuka Syed Sadiq kepada DYMM Sultan Selangor, beliau menulis “Fight for us, Tuanku. Fight for all Malaysians.”

This sentence basically urged the Sultan of Selangor to support the Pakatan Harapan’s cause in removing the current Prime Minister from office.

Syed Sadiq obviously does not know the constitutional position of a constitutional monarch.

A constitutional monarch does not take sides. The monarch remains above politics. To this extent, His Royal Highness has demonstrated his abidance to the state constitution in his appropriate behaviour and fair dealings with his First Minister, the Menteri Besar, from either Barisan Nasional or Pakatan Harapan.

If Tuanku’s rebuke in regards to Tun Mahathir’s irrational tirade against the Bugis ethnicity, might I point out the rebuke was based on a matter of principle, being perceived as an insult to the Selangor Royal Family in particular. This has nothing to do with politics.

I have no doubt that if a senior UMNO politician were to make such a remark, he or she would similarly be met with an equally similar royal wrath.

Syed Sadiq’s ignorance and immaturity in understanding of constitutional obligations, propriety and practices is dangerous.

It is mind-boggling to think that anyone, more so an active politician, to urge a reigning monarch of a state to throw the monarch’s support towards a fight to overthrow a democratically-elected Prime Minister.  

I have no choice but to conclude that Syed Sadiq must be really stupid and is not fit to assume such a public role that he is presently holding.
