@AKaprawi : Resignation of Dr. Mahathir already anticipated, not the first time

Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Abdul Aziz Kaprawi said the resignation of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad from UMNO was anticipated as it was not his first time to quit from the party.

"The first time Tun Dr Mahathir left the party was when he lost confidence in the leadership of former prime minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

"And now, he is doing it again to pressure Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to step down. It is one of his strategies. However, the situation between Pak Lah and Najib is different," he said at a press conference, after his working visit to the Boustead Cruise Centre, here, yesterday.

Speaking to reporters, he said, the issue on RM2.6 billion and 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) that had been brought up by Tun Mahathir several times had already been solved.

He said the Attorney-General (AG) had also already made his explanation on the issue.

"We should not get caught up in things like this, because in the context of UMNO, there is one leader, one president and as the member of the party we should give our full support to our party's president, and help to strengthen the party," he said, adding that Najib had unanimous support from the majority of division leaders.
