MIC's Comms and PR Chief @vellpaari defends @IsmailSabri60

Datuk Seri S Vellpaari is an influential leader in MIC
There was a lot of concerns expressed on the statement by Minister Datuk Ismail Sabri on the proposed “ LOW YAT 2 “ at Mara building for Malay and Bumiputera traders. The view was, such a proposal will create racial tensions. Of course the criticism was levelled against UMNO since the Minister is from UMNO.

Can those who believe that this proposal will create racial tension explain to me, why do they say that, in UMNO wanting to promote or empower the Malay race will result in creating racial tension?

I'm very sure that Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri when proposing this also meant that other races such as the Indians, East Malaysian and all others would also be given an opportunity to participate. Is this wrong? Why must everything be monopolized? The government has demonstrated that it is proactively taking initiatives towards equality but we have individuals criticizing this initiative. Why is this so?

My suggestion to those with such views, please read UMNO Consititution Article ( Fasal ) 3.4, which states  “ Mempertahankan kedaulatan rakyat dan keadilan sosial dengan mengamalkan Sistem Pemerintahan Demokrasi Berparlimen serta memajukan ekonomi rakyat Melayu dan Bumiputera khasnya dan rakyat Malaysia amnya.

Now please explain to me in what way is Minister Datuk Ismail Sabri going to create racial tensions by adhering to his constitution. Let us look at every race based political parties or NGO’s, are all not based on the principle of empowering the race it represents.  If the act to empower the Malay race by Minister Datuk Ismail Sabri is racial then all the race based political parties or institutions are also racial in their pursuit to empower their race.

I can predict what is in the mind of some who will point me to the last 3 words in Article 3.4, “ rakyat Malaysia amnya”. Well, if this Government was a racist one, only to enhance the Malay’s and not non Malay’s, then the top 10 richest should be 1 non Malay and 9 Malays instead of the current count which is 9 non Malays and 1 Malay.

To those tycoons who have suddenly become very critical and finding fault in anything BN Government implements, please don’t forget, that the very reason you were able to build such great wealth, resulting in you venturing overseas and becoming a global player is due to Malaysia giving most of you monopoly here.

PRESS STATEMENT by DATO SRI S.VELL PAARI
