GROUP F –Argentina vs Iran (midnight, Astro channel 821/841).
Entering this match as heavy favourites, most would be tipping the Argentines to decimate the Iranians, and it is easy to see why.
With perhaps the best attacking unit at the World Cup (Lionel Messi, Gonzalo Higuain and Sergio Aguero), Iran will struggle to cope with the pace and trickery.
The Iranian's backs to the wall performance against Nigeria was admirable for sure, but one cannot help but wonder if a more clinical forward could have nabbed a hat-trick for the Nigerians.
Lionel Messi and co. will be looking to close this game out early, securing qualification to the knock-out stages with a game in hand. The Barcelona star knows too that this is a golden opportunity to increase his World Cup goal tally.
How the Argentines set out to dissect the Iranian defence will be an early analysis of how decisive they are in the attacking third.
Will they be clinical enough to take the chances that will be afforded to them by a team that defends with every man behind the ball?
