Now @anwaribrahim Makes U-Turn, Says No Reconciliation with @barisanasional #KLChronicle

Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today questioned Putrajaya’s sincerity in agreeing to national reconciliation talks when no government leaders condemned the racial abuse and threat against Seputeh MP Teresa Kok.

The opposition leader was responding to Home Minister Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi's statement yesterday dismissing any need for the police to investigate those involved in a protest last Thursday, in which monetary reward was offered to anyone who could slap Kok.

"I want to ask Zahid, how can you allow a threat like this to go on? It does not matter if you disagree with the person or not, the law must be enforced equally," Anwar told reporters at the Centre for Reform, Democracy and Social Initiatives in Puchong.

He said by dismissing the RM1,200 offer by Malay groups, Anwar said Cabinet members, particularly Zahid, have shown their insincerity in calling for national reconciliation.

Anwar said as the Home Minister, Zahid has the responsibility to enforce the law.

"He cannot allow people to break the law, whether those people are from Umno or from the DAP.

"I don't understand how Zahid could have made the statement," he said.
