(Bernama) – The man who handed over a suspected fake letter on the resignation of PKR’s Hutan Melintang assemblyman S. Kesavan (pic) to the Speaker’s office at the State Legislative Assembly Building here on Tuesday is now assisting the police in the investigations
Perak police chief Datuk Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said the man, a private sector retiree and a political activist in his 60s, came forward as soon as news broke out on the letter.
“He claimed that he was hired by an unknown man to deliver the letter to the Speaker’s office after attending a political meeting in Kajang, Selangor recently.
“He admitted delivering the letter but claimed he had no knowledge what it was about. He said he just did what he was asked to do,” Acryl Sani told reporters after attending Perak police’s monthly gathering at the Ipoh police headquarters here today.
Acryl said police had recorded a statement from Kesavan regarding the case yesterday.
“Police have also recorded statements from two others, namely the the State Secretariat’s Customer Services Officer and an administrative assistant at the Menteri Besar’s Office besides re-questioning the complainant in the case,” he said.
He added that the letter (that was sent the the Speaker’s office) had also been seized by the police.
Acryl Sani said police were now tracking down the man alleged to have given the letter to the political activist.
Kesavan had denied sending the letter and said it was the work of irresponsible elements out to tarnish his image and PKR.
