Perkasa Slams UMNO, Say's It Will Not Keep Quiet #KLChronicle

Malay rights group Perkasa regrets supporting Umno and Barisan Nasional in May's general election.

Today its chief Ibrahim Ali made his displeasure known at a press conference and said it had been taken for granted by Umno.

Ibrahim said Perkasa had provided feedback and advice to the government but none of it had been heeded.

"Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak had time to engage the United Chinese School Committees' Association of Malaysia (Dong Zong), Hindraf and Christian pastors.

"But did any top BN leader ever take the time to engage Perkasa? Or attend any of our functions? Were we given the same preferential treatment?"

He said the government has bent over backwards to accommodate these people who had threatened and adopted an aggressive attitude towards it.

Ibrahim warned that Perkasa would now pursue the Malay agenda stridently.

"Enough is enough, the elections are over and Perkasa can resume striving for the objectives which it was formed to protect, the social contract and the special rights of Malays in Malaysia."

He warned the government that if it made any decision which was detrimental to the rights of Malays, Perkasa would not keep quiet.

"We are not a confrontational organisation, but we will not be a tool for others to misuse and take for granted," he said, adding this was the general consensus of all its 375,000 members.

Ibrahim said Perkasa records every single hurt and insult.

"We have been very patient over the past two months but now our patience has run out. We are a responsible organisation, but we will not hesitate to retaliate if we are insulted or sidelined."
