[BONGKAR] @cmlimguaneng GUNA RM 8.5 JUTA DUIT RAKYAT UNTUK PROPAGANDA DAP!

An opposition member accused the state government today of spending RM8.5 million of ratepayers' money to publish 11 million copies of Buletin Mutiara in the past four years which he alleged was used as a propaganda publication.

Datuk Ariff Shah Omar Shah (BN-Seberang Jaya) alleged the state government of using the bi-weekly publication as a propaganda piece for Pakatan Rakyat which is misusing ratepayers' money.

"They are using the people's money totaling RM8.5 million for their own party propaganda and not just printing about government events," he said.

He said a total 11 million copies of the newsletter have been printed between 2008 and 2012.

"It is not right that they are using the people's money to further their party's political agenda," he said.

On another issue, acting Opposition leader Datuk Seri Dr Hilmi Yahaha (BN-Teluk Bahang) responded to a government backbencher's query on a proposed monorail project by saying that the project will take off if BN wins back the state government,

"The previous administration did plan a light rail transit project that will run from Tanjung Tokong to the Penang International Airport that will cost around RM1billion," he said.

He told a press conference that Penang BN will continue to ask the federal government to fund the project as the state needs this to complement the public transport system in the state.

"Public transportation in the state can't survive without federal support as there is not enough ridership so we will need federal government support to do this, just like how RapidPenang is funded by the federal government," he said.
