@VellPaari : Stop sharing gruesome images of Tahfiz victims #Negaraku #Malaysia

*Press Statement*
*Datuk Seri S. Vell Paari*

*Stop sharing gruesome images of the victims of the fire incident in Taman Datuk Keramat on Social Media*

1. I refer to a recent fire incident at a religious school, Tahfiz Darul Ittifaqiyah in Taman Datuk Keramat where at least 23 students and two teachers were found to have died in their room.

2. First of all, no words can describe how sorry I am for the loss of these teachers and young students. My deepest condolences to their families and friends who have lost their loved ones today.

3. It is time for Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL) and the Fire and Rescue Department to start identifying how many more of these kind of religious schools that does not comply with DBKL and the Fire and Rescue Department safety requirements. Help them and get them to comply to these safety standards accordingly so that this kind of incident will not happen again.

4. Notwithstanding the above, i would like to call on all Malaysian to stop sharing the images of these young victims on social media, especially their bodies and charred remains. Please feel some pity and compassion towards their families when these kind of pictures are posted on social media. This is not right.

5. Let us all take a minute and say a prayer to all these kind souls and may they rest in peace.

Thank You.
