#DemiRakyat : @LiowTiongLai & @WeeKaSiongMP to present farmers’ need for foreign workers to PM & DPM

We at the #KLChronicle would like to take this opportunity to thank Malaysia Chinese Association (MCA) President Dato’ Sri Liow Tiong Lai and Deputy President Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong for highlighting the plight of farmers in Cameron Highlands. As we know, farming is a labor intensive industry and without labor, the farms cannot produce enough to sustain its existence.

However, currently the farmers at Cameron Highland is facing a shortage of labors which in return is affecting their business. Due to this, and with the trust that they have in the government of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Haji Najib Bin Tun Abdul Razak, a group of farmers today came to visit MCA's Deputy President Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong to seek assistance.

These farmers who came to see Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong are from the vegetable, fruit, poultry and floral industry, as well as the Cameron Highlands farmers. Quoting Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong:
“All these representatives come from Kedah, Perak and Johor.” Ka Siong said, “the intention of this trip is to present the concerns of the various issues arising from a lack of foreign workers.”
He explained that, “although the government had announced earlier to allow the agriculture sector to hire foreign workers, the scope is limited to areas like oil palm plantations, which is why the 4 above-mentioned sectors were neglected.”
Adding that  “actually these industry operators have contributed tremendously to the national economy, such as Cameron Highlands being the world’s third largest exporter of Chrysanthemum with an annual output of RM200 million ringgit,”
Ka Siong, who is also the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department highlighted that “if the manpower problem is not resolved, the farmers’ productivity will be affected, especially during the fruiting season; and the present hot weather, whereby farmers cannot harvest all on time due to a shortage of manpower, and can only watch their fruits rot in vain.”
‘‘They all hope that the government can assist them in this matter’’.
For us at #KLChronicle, the action taken by Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong is commendable. In a space of few hours, the Deputy President has met with representative of the industry, heard their problems, evaluated what needed to be done and came out with a press statement outlining the commitment of MCA to assist this farmers to ensure that their problem is solved fast and effectively.

The way MCA has demonstrated their working culture is so much different compared to the opposition parties, especially DAP and PKR. As we know, DAP and PKR would first politicize any issue that is facing the rakyat. This is for them to gain cheap political mileage at the expense of the rakyat. Just look at the current water issue that is facing millions of people in Selangor, PKR first blamed it on an illegal factory, then they blamed it on the federal government and lastly they blamed it on the state of Pahang for "contaminating" their water. What a load of rubbish.

Our message to MCA and its leadership, keep up the good work. People, especially the Chinese community will appreciate the good work done by MCA. They would one day realize that DAP is only all talk without substance and MCA is the real deal.
