Free LRT & Monorail Services, TQ @NajibRazak @AzmiAziz60 @MyRapidKL


Providing transport convenience for participants and officials of the Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2016 this Sunday, Rapid KL will be providing free LRT and monorail services for four hours from 2am.



Covering all rail lines operated by Rapid KL – the LRT Kelana Jaya Line, LRT Sri Petaling Line, LRT Ampang Line and the Monorail Line, entry, however, are limited to selected stations to allow faster travelling time for the commuters.

“The Monorail Line, however, will open all its 11 stations. Participants and officials are encouraged to park their cars at the stations’ park and ride facilities and continue their travel by rail to Dataran Merdeka, which will be the starting point for the event,” Rapid KL spokesman Lim Jin Aun said in a statement today.

The list stations that will be opened are as follows:
  1. KL Monorail – All stations
  2. LRT Ampang Line – Ampang, Pandan Indah, Chan Sow Lin;
  3. LRT Sri Petaling Line - Chan Sow Lin, Bandar Tasik Selatan, Awan Besar, IOI Puchong Besar, Putra Heights, Sentul Timur, Sentul, Titiwangsa, Masjid Jamek, Hang Tuah, Pudu;
  4. LRT Kelana Jaya Line – Masjid Jamek, Gombak, Wangsa Maju, Setiawangsa, Jelatek, KL Sentral, Taman Jaya, Kelana Jaya, Glenmarie, USJ 21,


Apart from the multi-level parking complex at Ampang and Gombak LRT stations as well as Bandar Tasik Selatan, other stations with ample park and ride facilities are Awan Besar, IOI Puchong Jaya, Glenmarie, Kelana Jaya and Putra Heights,

“We are recommending for all fans and supporters to use Rapid KL rail network as well to enjoy the event. Services will be free up to 6am. After that, it will be chargeable as per normal rates. But, it will provide you with a hassle-free traveling experience,” added Lim, who is Head of Group Communications and Strategic Marketing of Prasarana Malaysia Berhad.

Kuala Lumpur traffic police has announced that a total of 24 roads including 2 highways around the city will face partial or full closure this Sunday to facilitate the running of the international event.

Road closure would start as early as 2am and the roads would be reopened after the marathon is being concluded at about 11am.
