I am surprised at Penang Chief Minister YAB Lim Guan Eng's statement today saying that the Federal Govt had rejected the Penang State government's request or made it difficult for them to build a 3rd Penang Bridge instead of an undersea tunnel.
Checks with my Ministry have shown no such request, application or even discussions with us to build a 3rd Penang Bridge.
Neither are there any records of any requests, applications or discussions with us on the Penang undersea tunnel project which would also had required various approvals from my Ministry before it is constructed or opened to traffic.
Perhaps the YAB Chief Minister could enlighten us when such requests were made to us and when did our Ministry reject the request for a 3rd Penang Bridge?
It is my wish that the Penang Government deals with their own internal Pakatan politics or scandals and does not try and use the Federal Government as a convenient excuse.
