Referring to the recent announcement by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak on the initiatives by the Malaysian government to improve our economy, below is some of my comments:
EDUCATION
I take particular interest in the guarantee by the Prime Minister that the government will continue to sponsor students studying overseas. This is important as it gives the students some guarantee so that they can focus on their study rather that being worried that they will be called home. This will also calm down anxious parents who might be worried about their children's future.
COST OF LIVING
Acknowledging that the people is currently facing an increase in cost of living, the PM's initiative to increase number of Kedai Rakyat 1 Malaysia shall be applauded. This will give the people a choice on where they want to buy their groceries etc. The flexibility is given to the public on choosing the cheapest venue for them to shop. This in return will reduce the people cost of living as KRIMs are cheaper than normal shops.
INVESTIGATION OF 1MDB
I have stated in my press statement previously that let the investigators investigate 1MDB. The call by our PM that the 1MDB investigations will be done transparently shows that the PM has nothing to hide. In addition, the statement by our PM that Edra Global Energy assets will be open bid shows that there is no favouritism in the sale and 1MDB is planning to maximize the asset they have to get a good price out of it.
