#KLChronicle : That's why we just love SPAD chairman Tan Sri Syed Hamid Albar. He is quick to take action when negative things happen that has an impact to the rakyat. In this instance the LRT incident few days ago that caused disruption to commuters travelling to work. When SPAD was first established, people were quick to judge that SPAD would not create any value to the country but now, they have showed that as a regulator, SPAD is able to supervise all land public transport in Malaysia to ensure it meets its main objective, i.e. to serve the public safely and reliably.
Kudos also to Prasarana Malaysia Berhad for their quick action in solving the LRT incident few days ago. Their quick action prevented passengers from being injured and operations resumed to normal capacity just a few hours after that. Much to the delight of the rakyat. The performance from both SPAD and Prasarana truly shows that Malaysia has an able and qualified administrator and operator of public transport system.
We at #KLChronicle hope that this good synergy between SPAD and all the land public transport operators can be can be maintained to ensure that the rakyat benefits from it. We are optimist that Malaysia, by 2020 will have a world class public transportation system as per the aspiration of our Prime Minister Datuk Seri Haji Najib Bin Tun Abdul Razak via the various National Key Result Areas (NKRA).
The initial article by SPAD can be referred below:
The Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) will set up a special committee to investigate the two brake failure incidents on the Light Rail Transit (LRT) yesterday.
SPAD chairman Tan Sri Syed Hamid Albar said the investigations would be completed within two or three months, and if there were elements of negligence or criminal behaviour, information would be forwarded to the Attorney-General.
He said that the committee would be composed of experts, including representatives from SPAD.
“The report will contain the cause of the incident and proposed improvements, we will also get a report from Prasarana Malaysia Berhad to be combined with our findings,” he told Bernama here today.
