@mpkotabelud : KPKT TO DRIVE POST-FLOOD CLEAN-UP OPS

Rahman Dahlan: KPKT to take the lead in post-flood clean-up
The Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Ministry (KPKT) have been directly instructed by the Prime Minister to look into the cleaning up of areas affected by floods.

KPKT will now focus on post-flood cleaning up operations. We have received an official letter from the Kelantan state government requesting assistance to clean up local authority areas (Kawasan Pihak Berkuasa Tempatan) in Kelantan.

I have instructed my ministry’s Chief Secretary to commence the cleaning operations to remove debris and solid waste, which have accumulated in huge quantity during the flood.

This massive cleaning up will be conducted by the federal government with close cooperation of local authorities and Dato’ Seri Mustapa Mohamed, who is also the Kelantan Flood Disaster Comittee Chairman. The cleaning up includes removal of dead animals’ remains (if any), which might pose a health risk to the population.

KPKT will also communicate with Meteorological Department to ensure the cleaning up operations will not be hampered by any second wave or third wave of flooding. The Fire and Rescue Department has also been asked to provide water supply for cleaning up operations, when required.

Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan,

Ministry of Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government
