| Corruption scandal involving @teresakok |
Seputeh MP, Teresa Kok denied allegations linking her with corrupt practices in the organizing of the Pusat Perkhidmatan Rakyat ADUN Kinrara Dinner at Shah Alam Convention Centre held last night.
Yesterday, an email was sent to the media alleging Kok’s personal assistant by the name of Gary Chong “going around selling table to major developers in Selangor for a dinner at RM10,000 to RM20,000 per table”.
In the email, the sender who only wants to be known as James challenged Kook to publish on the media the total amount of money collected and which developers donated.
James also demanded for an explanation on who had paid for rental of the convention center and the catering.
Kok who admitted that the dinner organisers have been selling the tables to developers and that it was a fundraising dinner for the coming elections. She, however, insisted that there was nothing wrong about such practice.
She also said that the most important thing was the account is “clear and expenditure be accountable for”.
When pressed for details, she said: “What r u suspicious for? Corruption?? What’s the complain about?? Me collecting bribe money?”
“In my speech last night, I said I do not know how much fund collected cos not clear yet."
“I also said some of the fund will be channeled to East Malaysia for candidates in remote areas,” said Kok, adding that candidates in rural area in East Malaysia needs to spend a lot in an elections.
“Are you aware the amount of money collected by other parties? We are doing fundraising dinner for General Elections in many places now, there is nothing wrong with that,” Kok said in her SMS.
James, in his email, asked Kok to “please explain why your PA with a name of Gary Chong going around selling table to major developers in Selangor for a so-called dinner organised by your Pusat Perkhidmatan Rakyat ADUN Kinrara at RM 10k to 20k per table? This dinner will be held at Shah Alam Convention Centre at 6.30pm tonight (last night).”
He then demanded Kok to publish on media on details of the dinner event as of “the total amount of money you collected for the dinner, from whom you collect/which developers donated, who paid for the convention center rental and the food and why and for what are you collecting the money for?”
James also said he is aware that IOI and Setia had paid for the DAP convention held at a hotel in Petaling Jaya two years ago and that “You and your party did show the full details of this convention's money in and out.”
“Also, under the so-called freedom of information act your Selangor government approved and all the promises Pakatan do during last election, I, the press and the rakyat deserve to know all the above.”
“Also, please explain on The Star paper story on 20-4-2009 on this Gary Chong allegedly obtain a bungalow lot at a huge discount and also a black Toyota Camry from one developer. You only replied and explain that all accusations are baseless. If so, why you did not take any actions against The Star? The only action you have taken is removing him as MPSJ Councillor.”
“I will apologize if I’m wrong after you give your full explanation and prove that I’m wrong,” said James.
